comprehensive enrichment program for elementary school
students. We offer a variety of creative and challenging
after-school courses which are designed to develop and
strengthen critical-thinking skills, foster self-confidence,
and develop an inherent desire for learning.

Developing Minds was founded in 2005 by Manhattan Beach Unified teacher Laurie Stern. Laurie recognized the need to provide students in Manhattan Beach (and surrounding areas) access to high-quality tutors with credentialed teaching backgrounds.
All Developing Minds tutors are either certified teachers or qualified, experienced tutors. Our tutors are aware of the high expectations of the Manhattan Beach primary and secondary schools.

Laurie has taught elementary education for the last 26
years. For the past 22 years, she has been an educator in
the Manhattan Beach School District.
